In order to protect personal data and increase security in the application, WhatsApp will prevent taking screenshots of photos and videos that can be opened once. META CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a number of new privacy-focused features in August.
The announced privacy-focused new features have started to come to the popular messaging platform WhatsApp. The mentioned update has passed the testing phase of version 2.22.22.3 for the Android version of WhatsApp. With the updated version, it will no longer be possible to take screenshots or video recordings of photos and videos marked as “View once”. If a screenshot is taken, you will see the message “Cannot take screenshots due to security policy”.
According to the WABetaInfo site, which shares current information and news about WhatsApp, it was said that taking screenshots or video recordings with third-party software could not be prevented, but the recorded images and video recordings were completely black. However, it is thought that this feature can be prevented by a third recording application on WhatsApp Web. In addition, it is a known situation that no notification is sent to the other party even if a screenshot or video recording is taken. It remains unclear when this update, which has been transferred to WhatsApp Beta, will be made permanent.
